Sinfonia Del Mar, located at 2227 S Laramie Ave in Cicero, IL, is a charming Mexican restaurant that offers a delightful journey through traditional flavors. Customers have raved about their homemade tortillas, making tacos that genuinely transport diners to Mexico. The Caldos here stand out, with options like the Caldo De Pollo and Caldo De Mariscos tantalizing taste buds through rich, authentic recipes.

While the food evokes fond memories for many, like Rachel Mora’s nostalgia for her grandmother’s kitchen, the service experience has drawn mixed reactions. It’s evident that the culinary experience at Sinfonia Del Mar can be a hit or miss depending on service quality.

Despite the inconsistencies in service, the flavor and quality of the dishes shine through. Javi and Diva JR both highlight the quality of tacos and the lively atmosphere, which make Sinfonia Del Mar a potential gem for both casual meals and cherished family gatherings. This restaurant promises an authentic culinary experience worthy of exploration.

Review highlights

Based on 830 reviews

Sinfonia Del Mar is widely praised for its authentic Mexican cuisine, particularly the handmade tortillas and flavorful tacos that evoke traditional home-cooked meals. Many diners appreciate the cozy atmosphere, sometimes enhanced by live music, creating a welcoming environment suitable for families. The kitchen consistently receives positive remarks for food quality and variety. However, feedback on service is mixed, with some guests reporting exceptional hospitality, while others highlight instances of rude or inattentive staff. Additionally, minor concerns about cleanliness and specific menu items, such as the café de olla, have been noted. Overall, Sinfonia Del Mar offers a genuine taste of Mexican flavors that resonates deeply with its patrons, despite occasional service inconsistencies.

The kitchen staff did a great job with the food, but the front-of-house service was the worst I've experienced. Our server was shockingly rude, making critical remarks about my choices and me. It felt like she was actively trying to make my dining experience unpleasant. The bathroom was also poorly maintained, with a trash can making it difficult to access. This kind of service is unacceptable, and I won't be back.

The food and service brought me to tears. I haven’t been able to visit my family in Guerrero Mexico in many years and the food transported me back to my grandmothers kitchen. The service was also so welcoming and helpful. I’m tempted to keep this place a secret but that wouldn’t be fair because more people should experience their cuisine. My toddler and baby also thoroughly enjoyed the food and kept asking for more bites of everyone’s plates. A gentleman also came in playing music on his guitar and he played beautifully. All in all this was a blessing to find a place that reminds me of my family and I can feel close to them even though we are far away from each other.

This cozy restaurant had live music playing when we arrived. With the variety of foods, I am sure there is something for most. The highlight was the tacos for me, they were made with handmade corn tortillas. The Caldo de res had no side of rice, if you eat it that way order a side of it. The ceviche, everybody does it different, for me it was like a cocktail of shrimp diced and served into a plate and it tasted a lot like ketchup. The parking if not busy is on the side of the building or across the street on the one way street. Know if you go in a group the bill cannot be split, you will need to have it split on your own terms. Otherwise good place to any time of the day. Enjoy! If you decide to check it out.
